Derby Fun: Balloon Parade Preview!
As newbies to Louisville, we were made official as we participated in some fun Derby events during the three week long Derby Festival. This festival was kicked off by a huge party down on the waterfront of the Ohio River and is called "Thunder Over Lousiville". They weren't kidding around!! Jets and other military planes flew formations over the city from 3 pm until one of the largest fireworks shows in the US. We didn't go downtown for the show, but we saw plenty from our house!

Installation Sunday, Our Church Family
Although he's been in the pulpit since November, Kurt was installed as the preaching pastor of Third Avenue Baptist Church back in April. Isn't ironic what can happen in the course of a year? What an amazing journey it has been and continues to be. The Lord has blessed us with a loving congregation and supportive leadership. There is much to be done, though, and the Lord constantly challenges us to trust Him as we continue to transition and settle in. Many thanks to Michael Lawrence for his time and efforts in preaching for the installation service!

Allergy Woes

Spring has Sprung!!
Back in April one morning, I was astonished to find a nest had appeared on Maddie's window sill. There weren't any eggs in it, and no bird was to be seen....
A few days later, another nest appeared on the window ledge of the guest room, and this time there were 4 beautiful little blue eggs! The mother bird never returned, though. Unfortunately, the eggs never hatched.

Easter Feast

"Where is Madeline," you say? Well, early on Easter morning she developed the stomach flu, and yet again, I missed another Easter morning service. This has been a trend since becoming a parent. But it was still a beautiful day, and I'm learning to celebrate the Resurrection in sickness and in health!
Here Comes the Bride....

Ok, so I feel a little silly posting this, but oh well! After kindly storing my wedding dress for nearly 6 years, my parents brought it with them to leave in my final posession for as long as the Lord tarries. I couldn't resist trying it on, and was pleased to find that it still fits! Madeline was giddy about the fashion show and enjoyed wearing my short veil. I should probably just put it in her dress up box....
More Kentucky Horse Park

We had a great day at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY back in March. It was cold and windy that day, but we still had fun! There are places to picnic inside and out if you want to bring your own food to save money (highly recommended). The Horse Park was a great way to get up close and personal to some beautiful horses and learn about equestrian history!
Ce'Fiore!!
Our newest find in Louisville is something we MUST recommend. When you want a smooth, refreshing treat, visit Ce'Fiore, located at Bardstown Road and Eastern Pkwy. Their frozen softserve is addictive when topped with fresh blueberries. Be aware, this treat might hit your palate a little sour at first, but keep taking bites and you might not be able to stop :-)
