We took our first family trip to the pumpkin patch at Huber's this year! As we roamed the pumpkin field, it dawned on me (Jayna), that this was the first time for even Kurt and ME to do this. I've been to farms before, but it wasn't a tradition when I was young. In fact, I remember we grew pumpkins a time or two, so it wasn't necessary to trek out to the pumpkin patch. Many times, we just bought our pumpkins the old fashioned way: at the grocery store. We found a nice round, but rather bumpy pumpkin to be our family pumpkin this year. Unfortunately, the week after we brought it home, it started rotting on the bottom. So, we ended up choosing our pumpkin the old-fashioned way again: at the grocery store.

Charlotte didn't care much for the pumpkins. She was content to snuggle Daddy.
What a handsome guy.

School Time

These pics are from July. Each day throughout the summer, we tried to have a set 'learning time' so that it wouldn't be so difficult to get back into it once Charlotte arrived. While I work on phonics and math with Maddie, Jackson often plays nearby or at the table. Here, he's having fun burying his animals in rice. Good times.

New Pajamas
Maddie's Choice: A food themed set with a big doughnut on her shirt and the words, "Sprinkles Make Me Smile". The pants are covered with doughnuts, muffins, and cookies. My girl LOVES her food, especially dessert. Aside from being told, "Jackson ate his broccoli, but yours is still on your plate", there is no greater motivator for Maddie than dessert. She even passed up the same style set of PJ's with a cheerleader theme. Dessert rules!
Jackson's Choice: Racecar themed pajamas. This pic doesn't do these PJs justice. The detail on front, back and side make him like a NASCAR driver. They're pretty clever. Now, this puzzles me some since we never have NASCAR races playing on TV, but Jack does have an affinity for all things that move, be they live or motorized. And the sad thing is these may be his only footie pajamas this year, or perhaps for the rest of his life. Our little guy has big feet. He wears a 10 wide at three years of age. Perhaps we should get him into swimming. Could he be the next Michael Phelps?
